RunStrong
Run Strong will be a functional strength training program for runners, trail runners, hikers, and athletes who run, geared towards injury prevention and optimizing running mechanics through lifting. We welcome every level of runner, and you may start at any time! This is an opportunity to build the foundations for stronger running and functional strength to pursue your goals. Additionally, learn strength training skills to bring into your weekly training routine!
We will focus on balance training, single leg training, and core strength. Classes will include plyometrics and jumping / hopping for lower leg agility and functionality (all with modifications). Classes will also prioritize foot and ankle strengthening - research shows that foot strength is correlated with reduced risk of injuries for runners!
The 10 minutes of mobility training at the end of each workout equips runners with the tools for better stretching and mobility training on their own time.
About Coach Hanna: Hanna is a Kinesiology graduate from the University of Victoria, with a wealth of experience in coaching and running. Hanna competed nationally in middle-distance track and field, and now excels in local trail and ultra running races. She has over 5 years of combined experience in youth track and field coaching, as well as rock climbing coaching. Hanna is enthusiastic to support runners towards their goals in a positive and inclusive environment.
